Description: This set is fundamental for establishing the access points (ports) into the abdominal cavity during laparoscopic surgery.

Components: The system consists of the Cannula (the outer metallic sleeve with a valve/stopcock) and the matching Trocar (the inner obturator/puncture device with a sharp or blunt tip).

Cannula Valve: Each cannula has a proximal valve (often spring-loaded or duckbill) to maintain the seal and prevent gas (insufflation) from escaping once the trocar is removed and instruments are inserted. The small side port with a blue or green cap is a stopcock for insufflating CO2​ gas.

Trocar Tips: The tips vary from sharp, piercing points (conical or pyramidal) for the initial entry to blunt tips or dilating tips, which are used to spread tissue rather than cut it, reducing the risk of accidental injury to internal organs/vessels.
